ACFF Development & Communications Director Position Announcement
The American Conservation Film Festival (ACFF) is a Shepherdstown, WV-based nonprofit organization promoting outstanding films and the arts to educate and inspire people to become engaged in conservation.  For twelve years, ACFF has brought the best of conservation filmmaking to Shepherdstown in the form of a four-day film festival held each fall, along with special screening events throughout the year.

Roles and Responsibilities
It is the role of the ACFF Development & Communications Director to lead all aspects of ACFF’s development, communications, and outreach, including but not limited to:

Fundraising/Development

  • Development of Corporate Sponsorships and Local Business Partnerships
  • Management of Individual Giving Program
  • Maintenance of Donor Database
  • Coordination of Program Ad Sales

Communications & Outreach

  • Public Outreach including Newsletters and Social Media
  • Promotion & Marketing of ACFF Events and Activities
  • Website Management
  • Development and Management of Membership Program

General Operational Support

  • Partner with the Festival Operations Manager and ACFF Board in supporting the general operation of the organization

Compensation & Time Commitment Expectations
This is a full-time position offering an annual salary of $35,000 including two-weeks paid vacation.  Included is the potential for a performance bonus of up to $5,000 to be awarded at the discretion of the ACFF board for outstanding, measurable performance success.  Candidates for the position must be available for long hours during the film festival period in late October/early November.

Organization and Reporting
The ACFF Development & Communications Director is responsible to the ACFF Board of Directors, who maintains hiring authority for the position.  The day-to-day operational relationship and line of reporting shall be between the Development & Communications Director and the President of the Board.

Basic Qualifications for the Position
The ideal candidate for the ACFF Development & Communications Director position will bring:

  • Experience relating to fundraising, grantwriting, marketing and/or outreach, preferably with nonprofit entities.
  • Experience with and/or a sensibility about the arts, filmmaking and/or resource conservation/environmental concerns.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communications.
  • Solid organizational abilities and attention to detail.
  • Effective research and analysis skills.
  • Proficiency with computers (experience with MS Word and Excel required, online and database management experience preferred).
